Trick My Truck: Spaced Out

What can you say about Spaced Out? Taking a truck in that condition and painting into a spaceship was pretty kewl!! I made up most of the detail on the fly, which is what I love to do!!! The theme just evolved into what you're gonna see on TV, which turned out awesome!!!
Painting Mad Max's truck was just insane. The fusion of a school bus and fire rescue vehicle was crazy enough....trying to paint it as one, seamless truck was a whole other battle!! The lines of the 2 didn't really match up, so I had to improvise!!! Once I got past that...the paint just flowed!!!
The coolest part of the paint job is a mural of a space scene on the inside of the doors in the back, which you won't see until the end of the show, but that brought the whole theme together for the inside!! The whole mural was done in 2 hrs, on the fly and it came out awesome!!!
The whole paint job and in the amount of time I painted in.....7 days, plus 2 extra hours for the doors!! LOL!
Mad Max seemed to really like his truck and it fit his personality well........Spaced Out!!! LOL! The build on this truck should help his business out and make him more efficient when he's out there helping truckers.....I just made him look kewl!!!LOL
Truck drivers are something else!! I was never involved in the trucking industry until I got involved with this show, so I had no idea what they go through. Being able to help out these drivers and shed a better light on the trucking world makes me proud to be a part this show!!
Thank you everyone for all of the support while I have the chance....without you, there'd be no TMT on CMT!!!

Ryno,
What’s the Chrome Shop Mafia without you. You have taught us some dos and don’ts about painting and of course, made us laugh. Eventhough that this was a challange for you, but when you said airbrushing is learning how to paint, I say that watching Ryno is really learning how to paint.
Clay Smith says:
How do I get you guys to do a truck. Talk about a challenge! 1968 F850 Fire Engine.
Mark Kondrich says:
I love the show. I am a former driver my self. I love what you and the other guys do for the drivers. So I hate to tell you what Max did with Spaced Out. He sold it on Ebay.
MELISSA SUE says:
I LOVE THIS SHOW. I WATCH IT AS MUCH AS I CAN.
Patrick Richmond says:
Hey Ryno, when you do another truck, when you did that “Time for Tapee” on the Race for the Cure truck, you make md laugh. Do that again!!!

When I passed this show in the guide screen I thought, “Who ELSE is going to do one of those OCC/Pimp My Ride type shows now?” Out of curiosity, I clicked over to the show. It was the “Icebreaker” episode, featuring an older gentleman whose retirement was delayed thanks to the industry slowdown in 2001. What you did for that gentleman and his wife made my eyes misty. The truck was beautiful, and now husband and wife can be together, on the road. It was far removed from giving teenagers stuck with a junky ride (a rite of passage fewer and fewer teenagers are having to experience, thanks to over-indulgent parents) a all show no go hotrod that they can treat like crap, just like when it looked like junk (probably due in part to their treatment of the car in the first place). Keep doing what you’re doing guys . . . you’ve got it right.

Hi I would like to know how I could get you guys to work on my husbands truck. We have been married for 7 years and have 3 children ages 10, 7, and 6 months and I have a serious seizure disorder and have to have surgery on my head so I am unable to work. Mike(my husband) work 14 to 18 hours a day hauling wood in Maine(which is where we live). he has a 1998 Ford and it is ok but it always breaking down and when he is not working he has to work on the truck. My husband is only 29 years old he has to work even when he is really sick, he had bells palsy last year and he still had to work even though he could hardly see out of 1 eye. My husband really diserves this. Our family loves this show and we watch it all the time. Please Advise. Thank You Mandi Clemons

Mike Burns says:
Great show……….nice to see how you change the lives of the families. I think it would add even more to the show if you were to air the reaction of the other family members as they saw the new truck for the first time. God Bless
Kathy Rawleigh says:
My husband passed away 5 years ago and my grandson who is 15 now going to be 16 in July this year was very close to him and did alot of things with his grandpa. They were working on a 37 Hudson Tierplane. When my husband past away our grandson was the only one that even knew how to start it up so I could put it in the barn. I told him that he could have this car. I would have finished restoring this vehicle but I can’t afford to do so. We had the body sandblasted and put it back together and was going to have it painted when my husband got sick. Now everyone I’ve talked to wants a huge amount of money to paint it and finish it off. There is no rust and like I said it’s solid.
My grandson will never part with this car and alot of people want it for nothing and tell me it’s not worth anything. But I don’t believe this.Even if it isn’t worth anything my grandson thinks it worth alot just in his memories of him and his grandpa. My grandson is one of the hardest worker I have ever seen! And a very great kid. He doesn’t have alot but what he has, he has worked very hard for.
I would love to have this car finished off for him but I just can’t afford it and it’s not that it won’t be worth it to do this for him because if I could I would. He worries now that I might sell it even though I tell him I would never do that to him it would crush him.
Anyway if you were to do old cars I would like you to conciter doing this one. thank you

Nick says:
What’s up gang?! Not sure where to do this, but I would like to enter a candidate for your show. The truck is a 90’s model KW T600A. It’s my Dad’s truck. He was an active Marine, back in Vietnam, and when he got out he started trucking. He first started out moving furniture, but when that got too hard and aggravating about 5 years ago, he switched to gasoline. He’s had his KW for a while now. It helped get me through college and is doing the same for my sister. He’s had many problems with it. The main problem is that it is a dark blue with a purple and teal stripe. Some of the other problems include braking and lubrication issues. Another big problem is within the past year he blew up his turbo and intercooler, and then blew up his motor just this morning. If I had the money I would pay for all the things his truck needs because I owe the man everything, but I don’t so I’m here asking you and your network to help this hard working father, husband, and patriot. If there’s anything you can do please email me at usmcair23@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time.

I would like to know how to submit my brother for a tricked out truck.
Cassie says:
Hi! I just wanted to thank you guys for the things you do for all the truckers out there. I now live in South Carolina but I’m from Joplin Missouri. My dad (Mike) is a dispatcher at TDC in Joplin and my biological father is a truck driver in Arkansas. I watch your show all the time, seeing the area around helps ease being homesick. You guys do wonderful and amazing things. Thank you again.

this is reposted from rhyno’s myspace —- There are rumors going around about the Chrome Shop Mafia not coming back for the new season… that’s a good thing!!!!The Picketts, Rob and I, all have our own shops and are not employed by 4 State Trucks, or CSM. We are employed by CMT and Varuna Studios to film the show Trick My Truck. When we’re not filming, we try to pick up the pieces and run our own shops. 4 State Trucks and CSM are running full force all year round. Alot of fans go to 4 State Trucks in hopes to see us, Rod and Kevin are in Seattle and I’m in California!!! They wanted to give us a brand when we filmed the pilot, which I was against because this gave 1 guy full control!!! Chrome Shop Mafia was a sticker you got from 4 States when a truck was accessorized..The show Trick My Truck is what put CSM on the map and that included the work of Pickett Custom Trucks, Rob’s Audio Solutions, and Blasted!!!! CSM did not include us in the plans for them and pretty much pushed us out of the picture!!! Its pretty frustrating and disappointing to get treated like that, especially since I for one considered them my friends!!! CSM took the recognition of the show, the talent we brought to the show and our faces and promoted themselve to their advantage….did you ever see CSM and Blasted or Picketts or Robs Audio??? The only time that happened was when I painted them!!!LOL Ive seen ads with our faces and 4 State employees like they worked on the show…they don’t!!! I don’t want to go into detail about everthing that went down, there’s no point to!!! Whats done is done and theres no turning back…..and besides, karma’s a bitch!!!HAHA Although I do have to say after all that went down, I have no hard feelings towards CSM, I just wish they would’ve stepped up and took care of the guys that made CSM who they are…..ALL OF US, and not the employees of 4 State Trucks!!! What do you guys tune in for in the first place?? A kick ass paint job, kewl interiors, audio/visual and fab werk…thats still going to happen!!! CSM had no part in the designing of the trucks, we did!!! 4 State Trucks supplied deck plates and random stuff!!!!! CSM barely touched the trucks in 2nd season and nada in the 3rd!!! I hope all the fans can see through the fact that the show is not about CSM, they’re not the ones that make it happen….we all are!!!!
I’m bummed the Picketts aren’t coming back, they moved on to better things that don’t involve TV and I wish them all the best!! Ceebs chose to stay with CSM and he will be missed….good comedic relief!!!LOL Scrapyard….well, he’s just lost!!!HAHA Rob and I are still on the show and we are going to pull off some mind blowing stuff!!! We have all new fabricators that do the same, if not better work for the show, (they were the behind the scene guys from last season)!!!! This new crew is going to rock, we actually want to help eachother, we all have an equal share in the new venture…..look out for “OUTCAST KUSTOMS”!!!! Fits perfectly because we’ve been outcasted by CSM!!!LOL The show is actually fun again and thats gonna reflect on camera, which I know ya’ll luv!!! So the show will go on, bigger and better than before….hell, we signed a 3 year deal!!!! So I wish CSM all the best at whatever they plan on doing, but remember that we’re the ones on TV and not the employees of 4 State Trucks wearing a CSM shirt!!!!
So stay tuned…this going to be the best season yet!!

My husband Jimmy is a “Bull Hauler”, he works extremely hard to provide for his family. He is out for a month or more at a time. His heart is in ranching, but due to some family conflicts, he no longer can raise cattle, instead he hauls them in order to pay for the family ranch. He works extremely long hours and gives it his all, for us back home. He does this all to provide for his family and pay for our families 900 hundred acre ranch, so that some day we can run it again.
On October 27, 2007, he had an accident which totalled his truck and trailer. This accident caused alot of media hype, due to the fact that his trailer over turned killing 18 of the 59 horses he was transporting to an auction barn. Not only did he loose his truck and trailer in the wreck, he also was wrongly accused and crucified by animal rights activists. He also was given citations that he later was able to have dismissed. We thought the nightmare was over, but now animal rights activists have pressed having him get charged with animal cruelty charges. They now have a warrant out for his arrest, for 5 counts of animal cruelty, which he will have to back to dispute. He is a cowboy and horse man, who had an unfortunate accident, who would never intentionally hurt any animal. He has had his reputation wrongfully tarnished by this ACCIDENT.
He has bought a different truck, but it’s not as tricked out as he would like. I feel after all he has been through and how his reputation has been wrongly tarnished, that he deserves to have his truck TRICKED out!
He works so hard trying to make an honest living. He gives his all and we as his family would like to have him get something personalized just for him. No one works as hard as him. Please concider helping us give back to him for all he sacrafices for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My roommate got me into watching and I really enjoy it. He is a spray painter/finisher on custom cabinets (but here at rebuilding the Mississippi coast) he’s currently looking for new work. So we watch and dream about when we get the house finally done, what can we do about the little mazda broken down in the yard that he lived in for awhile when he got out of the military in the early 80’s. Your show has helped me understand why he won’t let me get rid of the thing. Funny thing is….he’s not auto mechanically inclined!!! Show me some an awesome windstorm on one….or can that be painted? great work, thanks
