Suzy and Ron Redneck Wedding
Ron and Suzy share their wedding experience from CMT's My Big Redneck Wedding

Ron's Blog
Hey! My name's Ron; my boys call me "Pappy." I live in a place called Norco where I met this gal Suzy (didn't remember her name at first when she gave her phone number to call after we met and all, but since then I've learned it). Anyway, after a time we decided to get married. I figured at my age and hers, she been married a few before, a small kinda wedd'n would do. But like all gals they want something to remember. So not hav'n the heart to let her down, I agreed. Well, needless to say we had one hell of a rodeo wedd'n and all, something I guess she had only read about in fairy tale stories.

Now, hav'n been married for a few months, things are good as they were before. Can't find much to complain bout, except that now wees married, suddenly she seems to think that when she need some money for somethin it's OK to just reach in my pocket. Well this didn't happen before we got hitched. So I kinda set things straight with her and opened up another account at the bank -- one for my money and one for hers.

Things are good. I think I got a good woman. Her kind ain't easy to find (good heart, pretty, strong, can ride a horse, likes her beer, hang with me and the boys) and when all said and done at the end off the day she puts out her cigarette, lays her head down beside mine and still tells me she loves me. Guess I done alright.

Suzy's Blog
My name is Suzy Burger. I live in Norco Calif. (Horsetown, USA). This is where Ron and I met. I was out having a drink and I had seen him before in there. He usually rode his horse in with his hot girlfriends ... haha ... anyway he was leaving and I asked him why he was leaving. He kinda smiled and walked out. Well I guess he came back in and I was talking to someone else, and he left again. His friend John grabbed me and led me out to where he was getting on his horse. Well John told Ron I wanted a ride, so he asked me and I said yes, got on the horse and he asked me where I wanted to go. I said wherever you're going. I guess I found out later that he thought I was some city girl that wanted a ride around the parking lot ... haha ... not!!! That's how we met.

Ron and I do everything together, from cleaning stalls to playing men's softball, dancing and riding and what ever fun activities we can find to do on horses.
As far as our wedding, well, it wasn't really a decision to have a redneck wedding. That's just who we are and it wouldn't have been any other way. I always dreamed as a girl to either ride up on a horse or horse drawn carriage when I was getting married, and thanks to our good friend "Ranger John," he made it happen. I guess our biggest goal for the wedding was to have everyone have the best time and for it to be as memorable for us as ever, and boy did it happen.
Our plans for the future, well, to take every day as if it was our last, to enjoy our family and friends and just be as happy as we can with each other for the rest of our lives.

Congratulations on your wedding! Suzy, you were a beautiful bride and Ron, we’ve never seen you look happier. Don’t know though if I would’ve gone with Wrangler - real cowboys go with Carhart. And glad to see you got rid of the Miata - the horse is more your style.

Suzy, take good care of him. He can run, but, darn it, those pretty eyes gave him away. I knew him 3 decades ago and he was a fun guy. My heart has been afflicted with a similar fungi. We will celebrate our 17th anniversary next month. I tell him he’s the best mistake I ever made. I will tell you something about yours that I’m not sure he’s shared with you. We learned something from his dear mother (God rest her soul, and his father’s, too). Now bbq’d meat is not good enough for me without this. We don’t have much room in our apt to grill or bbq, but I keep a bottle of ABC sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) in our fridge just in case. I sure hope you’re not allergic to peanuts. I haven’t been able to find a peanut sauce bottled or served that is as heavenly as his mother’s was. Tell your guy that I thank him for all those good memories, especially the delicious ones! Congratulations to you both!

Hi Suzy - I was practically a kid when our families were acquainted. It looks like Pappy’s been through some changes. I suppose many of us have a skeleton or two we’d like to forget. (Except me. I’m married to mine.) Perhaps Pappy has some memories from that time that he’s struggled with. I’m happy to see that he is reunited with his niece. Pappy & Suzy, I wish you both a lot of love, joy & peace. Keep up the laughter, and Happy Valentine’s Day! (P.S. I loved both your outfits. You two look great together!)

  • SUZY says:

Hi Anita, - thanks for responding. I’m not sure but Ron said the Anita he remembered was Sandys sister, is this you?

  • Anita says:

    Posted: February 12th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

Yes! I’m at work right now. (I left a little late this morning, as usual, and I’m just two miles from home.) So I’ll write later. I haven’t talked to Sandy, yet, since Friday. Needless to say, we were pretty WOWed!

    Later!

Suzy and Ron, Loved the wedding. Good luck to you both and much happiness. You were a lovely bride and Ron a hansome goom. God bless.

  • Anita says:

    Posted: February 13th, 2008 at 1:03 pm

Ron, you hansome goom (thought that was funny), I just wanted to let you know that it was great to see you again. (Perhaps a little too much of you :P) Things are always reminding us of the past, aren’t they? Especially songs that we heard back then. Those memories are not always pleasant. That’s life. A lot of celebrations and regrets. We’re in our 50’s now. This is just a little voice from the past to tell you that we ALL wish you well and we hope that Suzy can be the one to help you settle down and watch a beautiful sunset. That’s all.

    Me go now.

  • Ron says:

    Posted: February 13th, 2008 at 3:17 pm

    Anita,
Thank You! I hope all is well with all your family.
You said “you married your skeleton”, I live with mine inside of me (everyday)with regrets things I cannot change, mistakes I wish I hadn’t made.
But I’ve learned as you get older you keep the things precious to you closer and nurture them and not follow the
    paths of the past.
I too have fond memories of the past, at times I look at old photographs the few I still have.
    Please, ronrburger@hotmail.com

    You take care!

    Hi Suzy,
Your wedding looked like a blast! I was wondering if you ever got your kegs delivered to you. I wouldn’t have trusted that little guy at the store you went to when he tried to show you the little Coors keg and then didn’t even write your order down! That would have made me nervous.

  • SUZY says:

    Posted: March 26th, 2008 at 3:50 pm

Dana, yes we did get them, but not from him, made me way to nervous….haha…thanks for watching, and yes, we had a “BLAST”…..
