 Amber and John's Redneck Wedding

Amber and John share their experience from My Big Redneck Wedding.

Our experience with the wedding was a great one. We had so much fun planning this and the end was all worth it. But we both have decided that we don't want to go through any of that again! Even though it was fun there was headaches too. But I swear to you if it wasn't for our families it would have never been possible. We love our families and thank them so much for everything!

Take care of your teeth. To be so young and not to have your teeth is sad. Please clean up enviroment and your appearance if not for you at least for your child.

    To whom it concerns;

I am becoming very disgusted with the types of Programing shown on CMT. Does the Network have such a low budget that it cannot afford quality programs. There is a limit to how much Redneck crap a person can stand. Prehaps you people need to look into hiring someone that can develope some program schedule that does not include constant showings of REDNECK WEDDINGS I do enjoy the Videos that are shown in the mornings and the countdown of the top twenty. I like the Country Styled movies from time to time. You did at one time show the Grand Ole Opry and a good variety of Country shows. Put re-runs of Hee Haw on or Ralph Emory Live, Crook and Chase those types of programs. Now I watch RFD TV to get the good QUALITY programs.

Please! do something about your programming or you will lose me and my numerous friends and Family.

    Sincerely

    Jon M. Christenson

As a life long resident of Echols county, this program has certainly embarrased me and my family. I hope John and Amber are happy with themselves and the humiliation they have caused the entire county with their wedding; keep in mind there is a difference between being a redneck and being white trash.

My family and I did turn off this ridiculous show. However, since there was an article in the newspaper and the program is broadcasted nationwide, it is a little hard to get away from it. Also, am I the only person that thinks a baby has no place “mud bogging” even if they are in a car seat?!! Just a couple of months ago, children were killed in this same county while their “adult” caretakers had fun in the mud; how about using a little common sense.

Kyle would certainly get along with John! We wish yall the best of luck in pig hunting and a life full of love. (Teach that baby to mud bog the right way! Yall Rock!) Amber you and John take care of that Baby and live a happy life together. I can asure you not all of Echols nor Lowndes county was embarrassed by your wedding and the publicity it got. God knows Echols county need some kind of publicity other than what it gets due to drugs and crooked law enforcement. I really enjoyed your wedding and thought y’all looked wonderful. I have watched it twice now and would watch it again if givin the chance. Ignore these people that had nothing better to do but pass judgement on others. And to the person that posted about the children losing their lives, yes that was a sad situation but this was neither the time nor site to gripe about it on.

Dear Jeffery, believe me this wedding was definitely not the true southern way of life. A true southerner has more class and grace than to run around bare footed in hog’s blood, chase greased pigs and allow their baby to be filthy on national TV with a snake in her face!! Where is child protective services when you need them!!

What Ma-in-law said was sure right about “the whole **** county turning out”; BUT it was mostly because there are really good people in Echols County that wanted to help out with this shindig. Some of their good was turned around on them with the way they were portrayed. The relatives/families spoken of (to the locals knowledge) are not even from Echols County but have migrated in (like half the county). The word got out that the TV crews requested getting everyone that anyone knew involved to make it look really big. I think they did a pretty good job at that!
Afterall, the one thing Tom Arnold said that was true is that the animals outnumber the people 10 to 1, at least. The entire county of 450 square miles only has 1 traffic signal, millions of pine trees, tons of carrots, and approx. 4500 residents. Just wish someone had told him how to pronounce the name of the town; “Stay-ten-ville” not “Staten”-like Staten Island. We are in the deep south and we like to say stuff s-l-o-w; so each word sinks in.
With all of that said……They had their redneck wedding, and isn’t that really all they wanted? They were going to have that with or without the TV cameras.
We need to be more concerned about the illegals getting our Social Security, than how much of what they considered fun was had by all involved.
Resident of Echols County and still proud of it!

I thought the wedding was hilarious! I live in Georgia and while I probably won’t have a “redneck” wedding, I will acknowledge my country roots. No one should be ridiculed for the way they choose to spend their special day because it’s just that-THEIR day and no one elses. I applaud Amber and John for doing what they wanted to and not caring what other people think.

You two did your thing, and that’s all that matters! I loved the show, and frankly, I was just happy to see some people from Georgia on there (finally!!)

Yeah, my wedding was a little different than yours (ok, it was a lot different) but it was still country, so I know the deal. No, we don’t all do it the same way, but you guys did it your way, and that’s cool with me! I like watching the show because I like seeing people have weddings their own way, not like these cookie cutter weddings you see on the other channels.

You two went mud bogging and greased pig chasing. My husband and I got married on a riverbank and went canoing afterwards. There are lots of different ways to be country. I’m not going to knock you two because your way is a little different from mine. Nobody else should knock you either. Good luck to you all!

I hope that the whole country will over look this wedding and know that all southern rednecks are not like this. Most of us have class and taste. Having a redneck or country style wedding can be done with class and taste. This has embarrassed alot of georgia people.

I am so sorry that there are people in the world that can not let you have your day the way you want to. Redneck is a way of life and not a social class. I for one rode a Harley to the foot of a bridge as the Matron of honor in my sisters wedding. It was full of Rednecks and Bikers, the pond was full of floating candle’s and while the attendee’s sat in chairs or on their bikes around the edge of the pond. It was a wonderful although the best man dropped the wedding ring in the gravel next to the gazebo as my sister was working her way across the bridge it worked out fine. If ya’ll wanta go huntin or playin on the 4 wheelers in the mud come on down to liberty/long county’s where we will go to the rodeo of friday night and mud bog on saturday night….

How can I get a copy of this funny, hilarious, knee slapping comedy routine, and if you say that this was a real wedding that took place I can’t believe it. I live in Echols County. I was born in Valdosta and lived there until a teen. I moved to Echols because I am half Staten.
Shawn, you are completely an idiot. To say that the Statens, Corbetts, etc. are inbred. What proof is there? I have seen none. I have looked back into my family tree.

Echols County for the most part is Great.
Amber and John, I must say are a total joke. True it is wrong to pass judgement but if it walks like a duck, then……

I personally do not know them or know anyone that does. I do wish that I would run into one of them so that I could express my deepest sympathy for their dumba–’s.

OK… this whole redneck wedding thing is GREAT… n is loved as much in the north as in the south.. being redneck is not were u live according to the Mason Dixon Line its about whats inside. any one is redneck if they want! I am from Maine and I LOVE muddin, huntin, target practicin, and gettin a better education so I can have better toys to do this with. If ya’all don’t like this show then turn it off you’r bad words are not going to change my mind that people do these things on TV and its still the same.. there wedding would have been in the paper regardless of CMT (not as big of course but still there)They did not put on a “front” while they were on tv. im sure that they act this way in real life.. who cares how they take care of there child its there responsobilities. n i just want to say that when i was a little kid my parents didnt let me inside untill i was bleedin I love this show. PLEASE DONT EVER TAKE IT OFF.. i want to be on it some day n show ya’all that you aint got to be from the south to have a red neck wedding!

Thanks Charles for summing up how my family and I felt about this “wedding”; to say that most of Echols county is inbred just shows how ignorant Shawn really is because as a born and raised Echols Co gal, I can promise you my family is not inbred. Sure, it is not right to pass judgement on people you don’t know, however if I were going to be on national TV I think I would represent my community a little better and with more class and dignity.

I don’t watch these redneck wedding shows (their just trash, people wanting attention). I just saw this one because it was done in statenville and I was curious to see how it was protrayed and it was just what I thought it was going to be.

Good actors though, in my opinion they got a little too trashy, but oh well, that’s tv for ya.

    Hey Amber & John

By no way am I trying to insult you but before I saw this show I had no idea people like you still existed.
Question #1- do you guys have any kind of jobs that generate income? swapping a couch for metal parts for his truck as a wedding gift - dont understand that.
And maybe I am far removed from your world but why would you dirty yourself up to hunt hogs and sit there chopping them up vs. going to maybe a grocery store?

And why is everyone constantly dirty? I got a shot of your bathroom when you were cleaning the hog - it is such a sanitary hazard to have a bathtub surrounded with such mold everywhere. Please get your daughter into cleaner conditions. There’s nothing wrong with country living but at the same time you can keep going to school get an education and provide your family a better quality of life. No one deserves to live in house with such poor conditions in this day and age unless you’re living in a 3rd world country on a tribe or somewhere in the jungle.

Seriously do you guys have a job?

  • tuna says:

    to city girl

See thats the difference between rude city people and country folk you start by saying i dont mean to insult you. Well if you dont want to keep your mouth shut then. Country folk play in the mud and the dirt we dont have to take a cab or the subway to go to the park, were surrounded by clean air and mother nature. The air you breathe is probably dirtier then any of our living conditions. We spend our money on property and toys not appartments and coffee shops. We have probably 100 times the guns by capita compared to you but yet suprisingly almost no murders maybe you guys should try hog hunting instead of shooting each other. And if i insulted your slick dressing, cappucino drinking, cab riding ass its cause i meant to!

    To Tuna

    get a life:

there’s nothing wrong w/country living but rolling around in mud and dirt and having poor hygiene and everything looking dirty (per amber episode) thats just barbarian and the looks of amber she is clearly not spending any money on toys or property

you’re just jealous b/c you wished you could lead a more open minded cosmopolitan life meeting interesting people, knowing about geography and world events, trying different foods and cultures vs. living in your single minded bubble where the majority get pregnant at 14 have about 5 kids by the age of 25 and collect food stamps.

    Yipee!!

This sounds disgusting. I have friends that live in the country and enjoy the clean air, but they also have clean hygene. I am surpised CMT even airs this because from the living conditions and this wedding, ya’ll seem to be the only ones who watch this Redneck stuff and it doesn’t sound like you can even afford a tv to watch this madness.

oh, and Tuna- Go to school. It is “we’re”, not “were” surrounded by clean…….

I have to run, off to Starbucks in my mercedes. I may even stop by Neimans.

well it looks like i offended the local cheerleaders union.the simple fact is these people put their life out there and you have nothing better to do then log on and make rude comments to them. and im sorry i dont use my spell check when typing on a blog im to busy trying to wiggle the antenas on my tv. i don’t want to get into comparing lives its the internet you can and will say as you please the simple undeniable fact is that your both still rude and not much will change that.

City Girl and Side kick : FYI

When you were a kid you probably got dirty !!!eek gasp!!! yeah thats right dirty !!!! look man you live your hoity toity city life style and die at 40 from a heart attach and let us redneck nasty disgusting revolting creatures live our simple easy going laid back lifes if you have a problem with the womans bath room than dont pee in it ! if you life is so glitzy why are you spending so much time on the internet cutting down some inocent person that you have absolutley no ties too? thats right you have nothing better to do . ( I admit I have nothing better to do i am at work) get off her kid and bye the way i saw her message maybe you should email amber and meet up I think she can take you!

  • City Girl says:

    Posted: April 8th, 2008 at 10:32 pm

    Chelsey

Please do everyone a favor and stop writing. Your grammar and misspelling of words is painful to read. Did you graduate from the local seven eleven? Oh wait - i bet you didn’t even finish 6th grade.

And yes I did get dirty playing as a kid but that was at the playground not sleeping, eating in filth.

Hey Chelsey - how many kids do you have? and do you live in a trailer? I’m just saying…….

  • Jenfan24 says:

    Posted: April 9th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

People raised in the country don’t worry about getting dirty. I see the baby all the time and she doesn’t walk around dirty! Amber, John and their daughter don’t live in filth. For your information these are hard working people. There is nothing wrong with living off the land and providing for your family. That is the natural way of life. I buy my food at Publix but I’m not going to put someone else down who doesn’t. Why would you belittle people that you have never met? And no I don’t live in a trailer!

  • City girl says:

    Posted: April 10th, 2008 at 2:33 pm

    JenFan24

You say that you see them all the time and they don’t live in filth why is their bathroom in such disgusting moldy way and cleaning pigs in the bathtub is gross.

If they work why are they swapping couchs for their wedding gifts? I dont get it.

For the record the whole episode John is always looking dirty like they never wash .and what’s with the black teeth?
You can live off the land etc… but when you put yourself on national tv and you’re running around like you’re living in the 1800’s you gonna get comments about it.

  • Heather says:

    Posted: April 13th, 2008 at 11:38 am

You know what? Amber and John look like they are content with their lives and how they choose to live. And there is nothing wrong with how you choose to live your life if you’re not bothering anyone else! How they choose to have fun is also their business! Whether it be mud bogging, shooting shotguns or chasing greased pigs! They have the love of each other, their family and their friends and that’s all that matters in this world. It looks like worrying about what people think is the last thing on their minds and that’s the way it should be and I’ll bet they are much happier for it. Much happier than the people who choose to negatively judge their way of life upon seeing it on television. If they are living honestly and not hurting or bothering anyone else then power to them! For anyone to put them down for their appearance, their way of life, or their choices of entertainment is just small minded and arrogant. I’d much rather there be more Amber and Johns in this world than the people putting them down!
Good luck John and Amber! Keep living life the way YOU want to and WHO CARES what anyone else thinks!

PS. If you small minded people don’t like the show, here’s a brilliant idea! Shut up and change the channel!

I can’t be the only person that noticed this….

Amber’s dress was WAY too small, and she put in home-made laced up closure into it. It looked terrible! Where did you get that dress, the Salvation Army? It was 10 years out of style when you got it, but at least you could have bought the right size! What is with you people?

My husband and I actually made a bet that the groom would/would not shave for the wedding. Looks like he did shave, but his mother forgot to. She also forgot to brush her teeth and wash the hog blood off her hands.

I too would like to know why you were trading a beat-up, broken down, stained up loveseat for a used truck part as a wedding gift. You couldn’t even be bothered to clean up that sh*thole that you call a home, and your kid is running around it that filth! You can be a country bumpkin all you like, but soap and water are among the cheapest things money can buy. It doesn’t cost you anything to keep your house clean- do us all a favor and stop breeding. None of us “city folk” deserve to pay for the result of you being too poor to afford a condom when you spread your legs.

omg people, get a grip. This was their wedding, their life, and their choice. I was raised to believe that if you dont have anything nice to say then to say nothing. You believe that because you are over the internet that you can say whatever you want and it means nothing to the couple involved? Grow up and get a life, stop hen pecking your computer board.
